Dr. Lisa Kane

Dr. Lisa Kane is a Board-Certified Prosthodontist who’s been practicing dentistry for more than 24 years. She received her dental degree from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2001 and completed her prosthodontic specialty training in 2012 from the University of Michigan. Dr. Kane is a recognized leader in her field, having received numerous awards and appointments. She was on staff at St. Joseph Mercy hospital (Trinity health) from 2018 until 2024 as an attending faculty, teaching the next generation of dentists in a GPR where she also received an Excellence in Teaching award. Dr. Kane was Director of Complete Denture DDS course from 2014 to 2019 at University of Michigan School of Dentistry while maintaining a private practice in Bloomfield Hills, a suburb of metro Detroit. Dr. Kane maintains her adjunct clinical associate professor appointment at the dental school and is now currently in private practice at Great Lakes Prosthodontics in an exciting collaboration with Great Lakes Periodontics. The disciplines of periodontics and prosthodontics share a critical and inseparable relationship as optimal oral health is essential to the long-term success of all prosthetic restorations and this latest collaboration is a perfect fit.

Dr. Kane is past President of her Specialty association, the American College of Prosthodontists, Mi Chapter, from 2016 to 2022 and currently serves as the Prosthodontic liaison, committee member volunteer, with the Michigan Dental Association.  Dr. Kane has been an invited guest speaker at the Oakland County Dental Society, Macomb County Dental Society, and Kingery Prosthodontic Study Club where she lectured to dentists on current dental topics in Prosthodontics. Dr. Kane has been a member of the Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon since 2001, an honor awarded to just the top 3% of graduating dentists at the time. Dr. Kane has received numerous awards in her field including 1st place nationally at the American College of Prosthodontists 41st Annual Session table clinic for her master’s Thesis research project evaluating the fit of new CAD/CAM copings used for crowns. Dr. Kane received the Delta Dental Foundation Dental Master’s Thesis Grant for her research at U of M during her Residency, as well as Rackham Travel Grants to present her research. She also received the prestigious Joseph A. Clayton Academic Scholarship Award in 2011. Dr. Kane has published articles in the most prestigious peer-reviewed prosthodontic journals including the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry.

Prosthodontists receive three additional years of intensive training in the fundamentals of dentistry including implant restorations, crowns, bridges, smile design/makeovers, dentures, removable partial dentures, occlusion (bite) issues, and temporomandibular disorders (TMJ). They often see some of the most challenging cases where patients have missing and broken-down teeth and have forgotten how to smile.

Dr. Kane works to restore what’s been lost and is very passionate about what she does, always striving for the best—and all with an artistic eye. She was voted Top Prosthodontist Hour Detroit by her peers in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
